About The Artist
Martin Singer is a contemporary French artist. He graduated from the Beaux-Arts in the 1990s. His passion for painting has always been the driving force behind his creative work. He has been teaching at the Calaisis art school since 2000. Committed to questioning his preferred medium, he has come to work on the mode of presentation most often used, the frame. A passionate draughtsman, each work is the subject of numerous sketches, from the most spontaneous scribble to a millimetric plan reminiscent of industrial drawing. This is tedious work, but necessary for the proper manufacture of the work. More often than not, the artist makes the frames himself, with the precision of an artisan carpenter, and polishes, varnishes or paints them according to the needs of the project. This hand-crafted work gives each piece a unique and personal touch.
Commentary
I discovered Martin Singer on Instagram in 2023 and imediately fell in love whith his work. I have since left IG, well, because its Meta and I haven't been able to find a website for him other than a few online stores, but there's a nice writeup on him here -> photographize.co
